" Need more Joy, the cupboard is running low. A bit more Bliss wouldn't be too bad either."
" Try the freezer, there could be some hidden goodness."

I have a running joke with a friend. We refer to my refrigerator as "The Frigeoleum". Seldom do things that enter The Frigeoleum ever return to the light of day. The Frigeoleum was already ancient when I moved into my apartment in 1995. I suspect it was originally installed sometime in the early 1980's. The rubber gasket lining it's door lost the strength of its seal years ago and as a result the freezer needs defrosting every 2- 3 months. Freezer seasonal foods like Ice cream and popsicles are only sustainable during the immediate post defrost period which is the only time it is possible to open the freezer door without a chisel. Once the glacier forms, the door becomes frozen shut until the next thaw and any contents become unreachable. Those few unfortunate items interred within the Frigeoleum tend to stay that way and are easily forgotten. I would be hard pressed to tell you what is in my freezer after the ice has descended. Earlier today I posted the following message on my profile : "Need more Joy, the cupboard is running low. A bit more Bliss wouldn't be too bad either.". My friend Miklos replied: "Try the freezer, there could be some hidden goodness." Well, what can I say, he was right. |
