I spotted a hawk today. Out of the side window of my studio I saw what at first I took to be  a fake owl [to keep the pigeons away] set atop the aerial antenna on the roof next door. The hawk was so still that I had to watch for several minutes before I saw it move.

A block or so to the right there is a man who raises pigeons on his roof top. Occasionally I see him on the roof waving a black [plastic] flag on the end of a long pole in circles. As he waves the flag, his flock of pigeons circle the roof in response to it.

Tomorrow, the flock will be one pigeon short.
