In the Minds eye...
6000 satellites

I was chatting with a friend on my celular device and our signal began to break apart. My voice echoed back to me fractured and laced with static. "It sounds like I am receiving messages from outer space" I said. "well, actually I am" I said, "Who knows how many satellites our conversation is bouncing around on". I got to wondering what exactly all of the earths satellite traffic looked like and scouted out an image. The above is from the NASA website. The satellites are depicted larger than their actual size for viability. yikes..
Things That Swing
"Things That Swing" camp had its second meeting to plan for this years expedition out to Burning Man. We bit the burning bullet and officially registered "Things That Swing" as a theme camp, worked out a few details regarding the fabrication of our geodesic dome (which Josh modeled out for us on his laptop in the photo above) and drafted a loose manifesto.
"Things that Swing" camp is devoted to the exploration of pendular momentum, social convention and the thwarting of gravitational forces. Our camp will include but not be limited to traditional swinging, baton twirling, hula hooping, trapeze and YO-YO. Our camp will sport a small 15ft geodesic dome used for yoga, massage and swinging & playing in the shade. We have two vertical swinging structures supported by guide wires, one large 14ft structure for trapeze and a smaller 8ft structure used for traditional swinging and for the suspension of a yoga swing. We shall engage in simple activities based around the concept of swinging and momentum. We are a collection of Artists, designers, and performers banding together specifically for this event. We twirl, we hoop and we swing both on the ground and in the air. As a collective we posses a wide variety of acrobatic, technological and therapeutic skills such as aerial acrobatics, yoga, massage, swinging back and forth and spinning in place till we fall down. Our goal is to create a simple and pleasant environment for play. "Our camp will be that nice neighbor's yard you pass by on the way home from school where you're totally allowed to play on their stuff"
Creepy "Gnome" stalks the streets!

A TOWN in South America is living in fear after several sightings of a 'creepy gnome' that locals claim stalks the streets at night.
"We looked to one side and saw that the grass was moving. To begin with we thought it was a dog but when we saw this gnome-like figure begin to emerge we were really afraid."
“This is no joke. We are still afraid to go out - just like everyone else in the neighbourhood now. One of my friends was so scared after seeing that thing that we had to take him to the hospital.”
The midget - which wears a pointy hat and has a distinctive sideways walk - was CAUGHT ON VIDEO last week by a terrified group of youngsters .
