In the Minds eye...
Scooby Doo Diet Week 1 Update
My Scooby Doo/CNN Junk Food Diet began on Monday and it's now Friday and I've lost a total of 5 pounds at the office weigh-in!
On Day 2, my assistant scoffed at the diet after hearing me crow about its virtues and she smugly announced she was going to want to know how good the diet was when diarrhea kicked in (She's Bronx, what can I say?). I assured her my stomach was just fine, thank you very much....but then some hours later--after several hostess orange cupcakes, sour cream and onion potato chips, and a Diet Dr. Pepper--I was forced to concede the issue as a I wore a path out between my office and the men's room.
Upon reaching home and settling my stomach that day, I decided some modifications would have to be in order for Day 3. So I began substituting Nutri-Grain bars for the Twinkies and Orange Cupcakes---they aren't much more than sweets themselves pretending to be health food, so I feel it remains in the spirit of the diet.
For dinners, I have taken to eating a bigger meal to make up some calories and to drinking high-fiber V8 for some veggie servings. The meals are all comfort foods and all unhealthy (on the fact of it!) ranging from Hot Pockets to Hungry Man dinners--and the calories are all being counted and coming within the 34 points a day allotted to me by Weight Watchers.
The weekend approaches and that's always a red zone on a diet but I can already feel the difference of the pounds I've lost---so I'll hold onto that thought when temptation strikes!
Scooby Snack Diet
Day 1
Starting Weight 220 lbs.
After reading an article on CNN about a nutrition professor who lost 27 pounds based around a diet of Twinkies and other junk food, I have decided to follow suit and to record my experience in this blog. The crux of the diet is the theory that only calorie counting makes a difference in losing weight. To that end. I am using Weight Watchers online to track my calories and since there is no entry in their database for the Twinkies, I created a new food and called it a "Scooby Snack"---since my favorite foods and eating practices are most closely matched by the eternally hungry duo of Shaggy and Scooby-Doo.
Later today, I'll perform a magic ritual to enable my weight loss success and review a tarot reading I did early this morning to foresee the road ahead.
